    For part of my summer break this year I've decided that Id like to go spend a week in Cornwall looking at s many lovely gardens as I can fit in:yho: but so far I've definitely decided that I'm going to visit the Tresco abbey gardens and the Eden project but there are so many other gardens to choose from can anyone recommend a garden not to miss?

    Thanks =]

    PS: I promise to take lots of photos for you all:hehe:

    Lost Gardens of Heligan. The estate is massive, you need a full day there really but if you're pushed for time you can just go round the bits you're particularly interested in. It is divided up into sections, yet at the same time they all flow seemlessly into each other. Its easy enough to find, from St Austell, head towards Mevagissey. It is about 2 miles from Mevagissey.

    In addition to the above, Tregwainton, Trelissick, St Michaels Mount, all have something different. Worth a look if you have the time, some are NT so not cheap to go in. I'm sure there are more.:)

    Glad you are going to Tresco - I grew up playing in the Abbey Garden! Try and go for long enough to see the rest of the island, even the cottage gardens are full of exotic plants, and if you're there in summer you'll see masses of agapanthus growing out of every wall, and all through the dunes.
    Will look forward to hearing what you think of the place!

    Why don't you get the "Yellow Book" (NGS) and see what private gardens are open when you are there?

    I love Mount Edgcumbe Country Park - it is just over the border into Cornwall from Devon, near to Plymouth. It has an historic house and gardens and beautiful views over Plymouth Sound to Dartmoor and out to sea and great walks. Sadly, by the time the summer comes it will have finished the flowering season of camellias, which it houses the National Collection of - apologies for the appalling grammar!

    Hey Walnut, I had posted some photos here http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/lamorran-cornwall-21235.html

    and a load more in the webshots gallery. Lamorran is only open 2 days a week I recall, so best to check before making a trip. Its very close to a very unusual Churchyard at St Just, which has 100 year old Trachycarpus and bamboo filling the grounds. We did both places the same day. I'll sort out some photo's of St Just over the next few days and post those up as well.:thumb:
