Garlic drench

    as anyone tried this to repell slugs. and does it work.

    Not tried it thru fear of it atracting a garden full of Frenchmen.

    I've seen broken bracken stems where slugs have crawled up obviously attracted to the scent of the sap. It kills them stone dead while they are drinking it.

    Sorry, forgot, we are not allowed to use it in this ridiculous EU nanny state:DOH:

    Crushed and dried garlic and onion keeps cats off my flowerbeds nicely, and I save eggshells to crumble roughly and sprinkle around the allotment. Slugs and snails can't get across them but you do need to get through quite a lot of eggs.
