I normally cut the tops of my growing garlic, but did not this year...as a result, now they have dried out in the greenhouse those tops are now big bunches of seeds.

Has anyone ever sown these seeds, do they grow true to the variety?

    Steve...:)

If you plant them (pips) they'll take years of re-planting to produce a proper bulb of garlic but that doesn't stop me trying to grow from them for a bit of fun.

P.S. they will be genetically pure - garlic don't do sex.

You could treat them like chives till they got big enough Steve. Just a thought.

I've got about 80 pips from my Germidour Garlic. At least I can be sure it wont have been in contact with white rot. I've left some intact to show how they form in a clump on the stem.

@Steve R I thought you might be interested in how I got on planting my pips. Did you plant yours?

I planted my pips some time ago and although only a few have shown through, masses of long roots have come through the bottoms of all the pots.

I completely forgot all about them, in fact the pips are still on top of the harvested, dried garlic in the greenhouse. Must get them done this week..

You've got a great start on those then Scrungee.

                Steve...:)
