    Hi all,

I'm a bit worried now because before planting my garlic cloves in my allotment I removed the papery coating, which I read is how to do it.

But last night on Gardeners World Toby planted his without removing the papery coating.

I'm fearing the worst in so much as I have ruined my garlic batch!!

    Can anyone advise me please:help:

No the Garlic can be planted in this way, the outer coating soon breaks down. I do remove it as the cold can get to the bulbs better causing the bulbs to spilt and get bigger.

:thumb: I totally agree with Colin Stingo.. I usually remove the dry skins on mine as well anyway to avoid any rot.. So lets see who has the biggest cloves next year..?? :D:lollol:

I wouldn't worry Stingo, I've never heard that you are supposed to do that. Mine have always been OK without removing the papery coating.

    Hmm,

    Theres a thought, garlic elephants.

Like garlic mushrooms but you'd need a much bigger deep fat fryer.
