garlic

    someone told me you just pot the cloves from a bulb is this right :cnfs:

    yes, but they aren`t treated to prevent infection.

    Having said that I have shoved odd (too small to bother peeling) cloves in all over the garden for years-and eaten them and I`m still kicking.

    I've always ued supermarket garlic..... try to get british grown ones as they will be more suited to our climate!.... and they need to go in NOW!

    Me too Claire,I love them when they are still soft and juicy .and i pop them in everywhere especially around the roses Joyce

    I was told, albeit by a "know it all" that you shouldn't use supermarket garlic as it would never work properly. How refreshing to hear the above stories, especially as I love the smell of garlic and its an excellent pest deterent. Going to shove a few errant cloves into the border tomorrow :)

    I got fed up with waiting for weather heard Jim Bacon : weather man: on Mo Dutter this morning , he's a very keen gardner and live in Lincs.
    He said all onions/ shallots/ garlic should be in by now, and late frosts wont affect them .
    I put 50 Stuttgarter/50 Red Baron and a row of garlic.
    According to DR D G HESSAYON :the vegetable & herb expert supermarket bought garlic especially if it's Spanish grows very well in this country , and the taste is a lot milder and texture a lot creamier .
