Garlic

:grn: Hi All
I have never tried to grow garlic before ,i thought i would put it in my box by the back door,its about a foot deep ,is that ok.how deep do i plant it ,i am only using a bulb from the supermarket to see how i go , any special needs

 

:DI'm for ever mowing off growth from my old veg beds...so just push them in as you would onion sets,and I'm sure your soil depth is fine.

 

I agree with Nick here, Pam. Just plant it to about half it`s depth. If you are using a bulb from the supermarket, split it into seperate cloves.:thumb:

I had some fab garlic from cloves I set last autumn. I used supermarket ones too. Good luck and I'm sure they will be fantastic

Hi All
A gardening "expert" on the radio today said he was planting garlic in his greenhouse ,
i thought it was better for being frosted :cnfs:

 

Pam, as long as the greenhouse is unheated I don`t see a problem with that.

 

This garlic i planted is growing well,all the cloves have sent up a green shoot, i was mooching about the other day and decided to top up the soil with some compost and i left just the tip showing, well its grown again, i thought it didnt do much till spring
