I'm thinking of planting some garlic this autumn, and wondered what varieties members have had success with, as the last time I didn't get a very good crop

Sorry if this has already been discussed but search facility isn't working for me today

    Thanks

I normally grow Music (obtained from the Really Garlicy Co - available from September), Cristo, Germidour, Thermidrome (garden centres), Vigor (spring planting garlic from local gardening store) and Elephant Garlic ('Taylors' from garden centre), and most of them are re-planted saved cloves as I only buy new ones if disease gets them.

The best crops this year have come from Music (large bulbs) and Elephant Garlic (very large bulbs!). The Germidour crop was mediocre and the Christo garlic failed (I assume because of the harsh winter). I didn't plant Thermidrome last year because white rot got my bulbs and I didn't get around to replacing it.

I think I see what you mean about using search as it throws up a real mixed bag of results, but there's some pics of my garlic on these threads:
