    I am currently carrying out research for a design project at Strathclyde University and would be grateful if you could answers a couple of questions;

    1. Whether your local council provides a kerbside collection service for garden waste?

    2. If yes which council is it and do they provide a wheelie bin for your garden waste?

    3. Finally, when working in your garden do you take your wheelie bin to the where it is required? Eg. When gathering leaves do you take the bin to the pile?

    Thank you

    1) Yes, they provide a "green" bin for garden waste (and non corrugated cardboard) which is collected fortnightly

    2) West Sussex County Council. Yes, it's a wheelie bin

    3) No, garden is not big enough to warrant dragging the bin into the back garden. I use a bucket and take the bucket to the bin. Same goes for the leaves. The only exception is if I am clearing the old woodchips out of the chicken enclosure, then I drag the bin up the path up the side of the garden and chuck it over the fence into the bin, but I think I'm an exception to the rule!

    1) No, despite every house in our neighbourhood having a garden - That would be far to efficient for Sheffield City Council to manage.

    2) N/A

    1. Whether your local council provides a kerbside collection service for garden waste?

Sort of: We have to pay to have our green waste collected.

    2. If yes which council is it and do they provide a wheelie bin for your garden waste?

Guildford Borough Council, it's not a wheelie bin, it's a green bag.

    3. Finally, when working in your garden do you take your wheelie bin to the where it is required? Eg. When gathering leaves do you take the bin to the pile?

N/A (I compost all all garden waste)

    1. Whether your local council provides a kerbside collection service for garden waste?

Yes we have kerbsite collection for garden waste

    2. If yes which council is it and do they provide a wheelie bin for your garden waste?

Rugby Borough Council and its a green wheelie bin for garden and kitchen waste which is collected fortnightly, along with the blue wheelie bin which is for tins, jars, paper, plastic and cardboard. The black bin is only used now for anything which cannot be recycled and is collected the other week of the fortnight (so weekly collection but different bins each week ... if that makes sense).

    3. Finally, when working in your garden do you take your wheelie bin to the where it is required? Eg. When gathering leaves do you take the bin to the pile?

I have a pop-up bag thing I fill with waste then take this to the bin as the garden isnt that big and we do not have any grass so its just plant clippings etc. Plus its too much of a pain to get the bin out of the wooden 'bin store' each time, that currently houses all 3 unsightly bins. OH made this once we got all 3 bins as they just looked too ugly to be sat in view!

    1. yes they do. A brown bin for garden waste, a kitchen caddy for veg peelings, and bio bags to put the caddy waste in.

    2. Hull city council, yes a wheelie bin.

    3. I would take my waste to the wheelie bin, but most of it gets composted.

Most of my garden waste that goes in the bin is Leylandii clippings. They take ages and ages to rot, and I believe result in nasty compost if I'm not mistaken.

If we didnt have to make room for 3 wheelie bins then we might have the room for a composter :)
