    I'd like to find the person that coined that and wring their neck ... I recorded Ash/Oak leafing dates for a few years and ... the saying is complete tosh!

      Hawthorn blossom used to be the defacto standard flower to use in May Day celebrations, until one of our kings changed the calendar which fast forwarded us by 17 days, reducing the likelihood of the May flower blooming on May Day.
