Almost a year since my last post, and yet again I've moved on to bigger & better, so I'm back again to test the knowledge of any willing members.

I've been helping out on a local community allotment, and they're currently having a 'gazebo' built. One side of the structure is going to be covered (hopefully) with clear PVC / plastic curtains/blinds, and I've been tasked with finding some.

I'm hoping that with a forum full of gardeners, there may be some who have a shed, veranda, or some type of allotment structure and have fitted some upmarket weatherproof screening to it. I've been testing Google search, but finding decent UK suppliers is proving difficult. UK manufacturers, even more so.
I did suggest using some heavy duty plastic sheeting from B&Q (or any other DIY store that's near), but the suggestion was turned down.

So if anyone has any clear blinds or curtains, or knows anywhere that sells them, I'd welcome any information. And before I forget, an extra requirement is that the blinds have to be retractable, either roll up or pull up.

The first thing I did was type in "gazebo blinds UK", and a whole host of stuff came up to pick and choose from. That would have been my first port of call if I wanted some gazebo blinds.

You can buy them online, if you're confident of measuring and fitting them correctly yourself. Or there are companies who will discuss your options, come out and measure and fit your blinds for you.

Yes you'll pay a premium for such service but if you want the job done in a professional manner maybe that's the way to go.

Might be best to contact the gazebo manufacturer for a purpose made set otherwise getting something that is integrated and stormproof would be difficult. I'm think of windy weather that plays havoc with the polytunnels on our allotment site, you need something that can be rolled back securely and zipped. On our home gazebo we purchased sides at the same time, they velcro in place at the top and zip together at the sides, something like that would be fairly secure.

        Thanks for the replies.
I've tried a few different searches on Google, and your suggestion is probably among them. Measuring for them varies depending on the blinds & supplier. Some just want height & width, others have quite intricate requirements. Another problem is the size of the openings. Three of them are about 2.4 metres wide (over 8 feet in old money), and about half of those I've checked don't offer anything that big. There's also a communication issue, as some companies don't respond (or at least, haven't yet), and some reply, but just send out a template response instead of answering a specific question.

I do hope to find a UK manufacturer, but it's not that easy, at least for me. Trying to weed out the UK companies just selling cheap Chinese imports. One of the most promising sites so far may even fit that category.

claim the design originates in Australia, but doesn't indicate where they're made, so I'm assuming the Far East.

You're right about the allotment weather. Even though we're in a fairly sheltered area, the exposed nature of the allotment does mean the wind can get quite wild, as I discovered to my cost one time when I left the door on a small polytunnel rolled up one night. I've seen curtains on American sites that they claim are almost hurricane proof, but I will not condone leaving any blinds (that have been bought as a result of my research) being left down when the building is not in use.

Well, back to my mate Google. I've still got a few sites to check out, and one of those I contacted, while saying they can't deal with me directly, have sent me details of more local 'dealers'. With luck, I may find something suitable from one of those.

Sorry, that's me not explaining properly. The company is somewhere in the south of England, and we're outside the area they cover, hence giving me the details of some local dealers.

I'm hoping that these 'local' dealers may offer other possible options besides those of the company that passed me their details.

Even better if patio-blinds.com are chosen, as they look simple enough that I could happily fit them myself.
