Yo! Geezers first proper thread :)
Thanks to all the crew who gave such a warm welcome :)

I have identified this already as being a plant. The big thing is though....what kind of plant?
I call it a flame haired bush baby, but it must have a proper name? ??
Thanks in advance :) I hope i have done this correctly! IMG_00000030.jpg

In a container it won't get out of hand, plus they don't mind being pruned (but don't prune when those nice new red leaves are about). In the ground they can easily get over 10ft if left to themselves.

A pot will limit the growth of most things. Ask any Bonsai grower. :)

All the Photinias in our street are in flower at the moment and are at least 10ft high so as others have said try to keep it in a shallow pot or cut it back after the lovely red stage of the leaves have gone...

Thanks for the input :) this gardening lark is confusing :rolleyespink:
My friend has some plants labelled Pieris in her front garden, and they don't look like either of these. Hers have what look like white flowers/buds? Maybe a different variant??
I better move one to the back garden if the same or similar to one another

So, it looks like the first of mine is Japonica, and the second is forest flame? :)
                    Thanks. :)
