    Crikey, where do I begin!!!!
When I first started out, I had the 18-55mm which if I recall correctly, is the kit lens?
I soon got shot of that!! Not a good lens in my opinion, and I think many of those went up for sale on Ebay! :) mine included :)
I then got my hands on a canon 28-135mm IS lens which I loved. I shot studio work with that lens for many years until a pro told me it isn't great, and likened his experience of it as shooting through a fog if I remember. He told me that the most important thing to consider when shooting, is the quality of the glass you stick on the front of your camera. Something I certainly agree with today.
I then did a wedding course which was definitely an eye opener for me. The guy let me use his 135mm F2 L series lens! Wow! Omg! :love30:
I went home and opened the image in RAW, and it was pin sharp! Unbelievable difference. No sharpening needed whatsoever! You could even see the tiny hairs on the models arms!
Obviously though, this was a very ideal set up....a pro lens, and being a prime lens (fixed focal length) meant a happy photographer and stunning image.
Ever since that day, I have only ever bought L series lenses. Even if it does mean saving up.
Next time I visit the lock up, I will take a pic. It's about 3 miles away though, or I would do it now.
    I use a Canon 17-40mm F4 L series for landscape, and a Canon 24-105mm IS F4 L series for studio work.
Yep, I became an L series convert, and never looked back :) also a sharpness freak :)
I always use a manfrotto tripod, with a 322RC2 head (where practical) Google it, it's amazing.
Personally I wouldn't want to use converters on lenses, unless maybe built in by Canon.
Another very popular lens a few years back was the Canon 100-400mm F4.5/5.6 IS L series. That was going to be next on my list :)
I hope this is useful to someone, but obviously these lenses come at a price!
This article below may also be useful to wildlife togs. :)
