    Hi,

I bought a patio burner thingy from lakeland Last year. I have had real trouble trying to find anywhere that stocks the alcohol gel fuel.

I have found some online stockists but they are expensive once you add postage.

Does anyone know where it is sold in a shop? (pref a chain unless you live Goole/Wakefield areas)

    Cheers

I did find a recipe online to make it but it was american where you seem to be able to buy huge quantities of isopropyl alcohol, think it would be a bit pricy here.

Wondered if it would work with Meths?

Basically need a clean burning fuel that you thicken (no wick so it needs to remain flammable)
Tried petrol but that burns with lots of smoke and soot.

    Any thoughts?

Apologies for split post but they keep finding me jobs to do and sending me out, almost as bad as being at home.:)

    Cheers

    David

Surgical spirit would probably fit the bill, but I reckon it would be too expensive for the job, at about a pound for a little bottle.

Trying cotton wool soaked in meths might be worth a try. Years ago we had a spirit stove that was a tin containing cotton wool which had to be soaked in meths.
