Geranium id

Can anyone name the variety of this geranium.It is currently about 7 feet tall and produces single pale red flowers.I hope the pics are clear enough.

I already have those varieties and although similar i know it is not them. I think it may be a sport off one though.

 

dont know about your geranium but your garden looks fantastic

 

The only Geranium I have that is anywhere similar is Wilhelm Languth but it is a double and dosen't grow that high.

With all those Bromeliads there your garden must either be covered or outside the UK, please show us more?

 

Thanks strongylodon , it looks quite close but your right it isnt a double.
It isnt actually my garden but my workplace.I work for Fife council at Pittencrieff Park where i look after the glasshouses.I will post some other pics of unidentified plants soon.

I have a varigated one 'Frank Headley' with similar flowers ,I've not had it grow so high but then again I always stop them small..Don't think I have any in flower at the moment as I always pinch them out.. till I plant out ..

Aha, another council glasshouse man.
Brings back memories of the Palm House I used to look after here in Weymouth.

 

Lovely, lovely plant Mick but although I have many books identifying Pelargoniums (at one point I had 60 varieties in Bucks) I am out of date as I am sure there are many new hybrids.

I have three different five to six-footers on the outside of my wall at my gates ... one clear red single with bright green leaves, many double rose/fucshia colored ones and a clear bright pink single. I can't identify them but have had them for years and even in our hot summers they are quite drought resistant. They are starting to bloom quite nicely now so I shall see about a picture soon.

 

Mick, I have no idea. But do you have any method of contacting Leeds Council Parks Department at Temple Newsam House. They have a huge greenhouse there with 10 or 20 climbing Geraniums that get up to 10 or 12 feet.

 

Hiya Peter ... you posted a minute after me. There is one up in the hamlet nearby that has been there for years climbing up through a tree and must be 15 foot tall at least ...

 

Hi Victoria. I have just come back from a few days away and am catching up.

I spoke to the gardeners at Temple Newsam, who hold National Collections for quite a lot of plants. They have a fabulous collection of these climbing Geraniums, but I seem to remember them telling me that they weren't really any special varieties, that many Geraniums would do that if they were given something to climb up and could be left under glass for 20 years to do it.
