geranium madersens/palmatum

    sorry forgot who it was that was growing it, but I know someone is and as a result I bought both maderense and palmatum from a local specialist sale last Saturday.

    any hints on care please greatfully welcome.

    Maderense that is this is them now, a bit passed their best but still unusual when the sun shines through them.
    Not hardy, so will need frost protection in winter, can take a couple of years to flower, but the bigger the plant before it flowers the better the flower stem. They dont really seem to need very large pots, mine are in about 10in, but feeding and lots of water in the summer, when it should be outside, are needed.
    Dont cut off the leaf stalks of either, as they both use them for support, you can remove the withered leaves but keep the stalk.

    thought it might be you pete - thanks for info, they do look fantastic, I have imediately potted them up into nigger pots, so hope they are OK. I am told they are real geraniums too and not pelagoniums, so all very interesting and worth nurturing.
