    Hi Everyone

I bought 3 plugs of Roxanne about 4 years ago they have grown into a good clump and at the moment you can’t see them as they have gone into winter hibernation but I know where they are.

just don’t know when I can multiply, just don’t want to mess up.

is it split the clump (when is best )
    Can you take vegetative cuttings
    Root cuttings

I have grown hardy perennial geraniums before but not ones that tottaly disappear

    any advice appreciated

I dug one out of my back garden last year and moved it into the front. A couple of months later it had come up again, so I dug it up again and put it in a pot. It's still where it was originally.
So I now have three plants from one, without even intending to

We bought a pot grown plant two years ago and it put on decent growth and flowers in the border soil, but when raising up the foilage could only see the one main central core, even in the second year its core was not big enough to divide.
Although many of the stems trailed on the soil non of them rooted or put out runners as many of our other Geraniums do. We tried pegging a few stems down but they never rooted ?

Is this a typical characteristic of G. Roxanne or did we buy a pup ?

Geranium Rozanne does not put out runners or respond to layering.
I lift and split mine in the autumn and then keep the divisions in an unheated greenhouse over winter as living in a cold area I would not trust that the divisions would do well over winter. I don’t find Rozanne increases quickly. I do not think it can be propagated by root cuttings but can be by soft wood cuttings but I personally have not done this.

I’ve not tried with Rozanne, but Azure Rush is a very close relative (same flowers, slightly less sprawling). I took a little cutting with one small leaf on in June. It took 9 months (kept inside) to produce a second leaf. However, once it did so, it romped away fine.

            Thanks, thats good to know.

We did try a few cuttings last summer but non took either, might try again this year with some younger spring growth.

I don't have Rozanne but I've split my geraniums a number of times. They are tough plants and I've split them up when dormant or semi dormant. I dig them up, cut them through with a spade and replant. They recover completely so I've not bothered with cuttings.
