Do geraniums die back in winter? I planted one last year and now I can't find it, will it pop up again in spring? I am a little worried that it may have been buried under a mole hill as I found one approximately where I think I planted it [IMG] I mean cranesbill type geraniums

Mine do Celia but I am rather surprised that they have done where you are which is far milder. mine actually die off rather than back. They turn a dead brown which I then cut off when the new growth appears in Spring. The true or cranesbill geranium is very hardy and I wouldn't be surprised if it did manage to fight through the molehill again in spring, Because that is probably where it is if it has completely disappeared.

Celia, I agree with John, Cranesbill take some killing. I would gently rake the molehill flat and hope for the best. [IMG]

My perennials ones are just starting to died back and I can't wait for summer when they will be in full bloom as the mounds of flowers are quite stunning.

Celia I'll keep my fingers crossed that 'Mr.Mole' hasn't uprooted your plant, I agree with the guys the cranesbill is a very tough plant and sure come through without too much trouble.
