Remember last month when one of NASA's satellites fell down? They weren't sure where it was going to land so I suggested we put tin hats on or at least tied some cushions to our heads?

Well we need to again. Sometime this weekend, a German satellite is going to fall down.

BBC News - German Rosat spacecraft to make uncontrolled re-entry

But there's a major difference between the NASA one and this one. NASA's one was made in the US, so most of it fell apart and burnt up on the way in. This one is built in Germany.

It's a German satellite, just put a few sun beds outside and it's bound to land on one of those. :D

I shouldn't worry, being German, it will probably throw a towel down several hours before it arrives.

So when did Germany put the first VW into space and what sort of Vorsprung Durch Technic did they hope to achieve with it?

Funnily enough, I was thinking VW and Vorsprung Dorch Technik (which is Audi isn't it?) when I read the article.

I also can't seem to get the image out of my head of a tunnel visioned satellite hurtling along at ludicrous speed, wearing shades and listening to tekno music.

Fantastic. I've seen that one before, I think the wife has that show on DVD. It doesn't get any less funny though.

Bill Bailey + Kraftwerk + Hokey Cokey. What's not to like:)

First time i'd seen it, fantastic:D

So whats the worst case scenario with the German VW campervan falling from the sky ? Collision with the Large Hadron Collider or Germany's Deutsche Mark printing factory ?
