I've got wild garlic growing in one corner of my garden under the pergola.

I want to get rid of it - last year I dug up loads of it and gave any that subsequently grew a liberal dose of Roundup. I think where I may have gone wrong is in not 'roughing up' the surface of the leaves to allow the Roundup to penetrate.

It's started coming up again and I plan to scrunch the leaves, then use a small sponge to paint on the Roundup.

Does that sound right or is there something else I can do?

I would say that's about the only thing you can do Merleworld, short of continuously digging it out. It will take a few treatments probably. It's a rampant plant here on the island and grows anywhere and everywhere. :)

Its a shame to kill it, but if you're going to, I'd take some plastic pop bottles. Cut the bottoms off and position them over the target. Spray roundup into the top. That will prevent the wind from drying off the roundup before its had time to soak in.
