I have to admit I am interested in the Paranormal and Ghosts, I haven't personally seen a full blown apparition but have experienced quite a few things, what do other GC members think about ghosts etc?

I have one quite interesting experince in particular (quite lengthy :D) that I can share if anyone's interested???

    I do. But I'm also a skeptic.

I've had some interesting experiences myself, and have seen things that others have seen independently.

However I'm also aware that the human mind is very easy to trick, and that there are people who make very successful businesses out of pure lies and trickery.

I did some freelance work a few years ago (built a web site) for a small but lucrative company that led ghost hunts around the region. Some of their 'evidence' was pure comedy.

if you doubt, play glassie glassie (thats what we called it in South Africa) ... like an ouja board and played with an upturned glass ... you call up spirits and ask qustions ....

but play with someone who is experienced in this

then come back here and post your findings

I've been known to call up a few spirits in my glass from time to time. It really works.

Used the Ouija board. The people I were doing it with, virtually messed themselves so never saw it through. Would love to try again.:D

          I am sceptic
played with Ouija board, whilst on night watches, but the majority of players crapped out with fright, some laughed, then the Glass flew off against the wall and smashed, No one took it up again :-(

          No other personal experiences,
My brother different story, and the things he was told by a medium, were exact and spot on
My take on this is the people who he was around at the time KNEW his personal details through general chat, and when one of them suggested a medium
Had already briefed the medium before hand
My same opinion with my daughters, who have party nights with the girls and a medium comes along, so accurate, but Again I bet he was briefed well by friends in her office, to be so acurate
If he was not briefed I would eat my hat, or become a true believer :-)

Very interested in "YOUR" story Bilbo

I don't believe in this sort of thing, irrational nonsense.......

..........unless I was alone in a dark spooky house hearing mysterious footsteps. I might revise my point of view temporarily then.

I have heard anecdotal stories from friends suggesting that some people see things others don't, which I found interesting and somewhat compelling. It's just strange that there has never been a whit of proper scientific evidence to support paranormal activity.

I was and still am a sceptic even though I've experienced things I can't explain. I also experience ESP and premonitions, one of which my husband was witness to a couple of years ago.

Ok this may be tame to some but it was an eventful period of activity and rather touching really...

This was when I was living at my mum's several years ago, I was around 20 at the time, when my grandad became ill and knew he hadn't long left he swore on his 'death bed' that he'd never rest until my nan was with him (they'd been married for over 60 years having been together since they were 14).

Anyway after he passed away things started to happen on the night of his funeral, when we got home we could smell him around our house if that makes sense?, then the same night a clay face ornament came off the wall travelling about 2ft out before dropping and smashing (it was something he didn't like).

          Perhaps the best way for me to get through the rest of the things that happened over a 3 year period is to list most of them so here goes;

          - We had the usual footsteps upstairs when we knew there was no-one up there.

          - My mum's bedroom was for the most part cold even when the heating was on, I measured temperatures of 9-11 degrees on many occasions when the radiators felt hot to the touch.

          - On a few occasions my mum would go to bed and call me up to show me that her 'made' bad had either been disturbed or looked like there was someone under the covers.

          - We had cupboard doors banging in the kitchen when we were all watching tv in the living room.

          - On occasions we'd catch a glimpse of a shadow in the corner of our eye.

          - My mum's cat would not ever go near my mums room and quite often hissed at something whilst looking up the stairs.

          - The thermostat for the central heating would quite often be turned up several degrees from what my mum had it on.

          - Small personal items would go missing and reappear in places we knew they shouldn't have been.

And perhaps the spookiest thing of all was this; I came home from work one day (it was summer and quite hot), I walked in and was struck by how cold it was in the kitchen where my niece was in her pushchair while my sister was pegging washing out, she had her bottle but kept throwing it on the floor, I picked it up a couple of times but she kept doing it, my sister eventually got fed up and put it on top of the fridge freezer, she started screaming and crying, my sister said leave her she'll be fine in a minute so I went in the other room to watch tv. I heard my niece stop crying and then my sister came in and asked if I'd given her bottle back to her, I said no, my sister said well she's got it now!!, I dashed in the kitchen and sure enough she was drinking it - she was strapped in her pushchair and several feet away from the fridge freezer which was 5ft tall!!??, at that point I noticed the room temperature returned to normal. My grandad hated hearing children crying.

When my Nan died of breast cancer at the age of 87 everything stopped on the day of her funeral, nothing has ever happened again, seems my grandad kept his promise after all :thumb:

All this was witnessed by myself, my mum, my stepdad and my sister and on a couple of occasions friends when they visiting.

We never felt scared by any of this, as we knew it was him and he was never a nasty man, he was incredibly kind and caring...RIP Grandad and Nan

I'd like to believe there are ghosties and things that go bump in the night. It's rather a boring world without them. But I've never experienced anything which makes me think that there's a 'paranormal' out there.
