There was one the other day in someone's front garden. They'd grown it 20 years ago (or something) brought back from some Mediterranean holiday, never expecting it to survive. Of course now its for the chop (monocarpic)

I have Agaves growing under my glazed pergola.

I'm looking forward to the time when they smash through the glass and create a bit of excitement. :) :)

I had an A, filifera flower one year, its a smaller kind than the ones in the pictures, but even so it reached a good 12 ft or more.
It was about 20 yrs old.

Yes it appears so, and a very brave lady up that unsupported ladder, must be a candidate for the caption competition:

"For my next trick I'll fall head first through the greenhouse"

Lets hope there aren't any horrid spiky plants in there to land on!

                    As quoted by the Beeb:

"The Agave salmiana, of the ferox variety ..."
