I purchased some Giant Rhubarb seed from ebay about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I now have 6x 4-5cm shoots groing very nicely. I currently have them all in a single 6ltr pot. My question is, are these too small/fragile to now move to their owns pots? or should i let them establish themselve more?
Im expecting these to grow rapidly and intend to plant them in the garden next year. Which would be the best month to plant them in the ground? and also how far apart should i plant these as i know the grow LARGE?

    Thx Wayne

P.S. not sure if i should have posted in the Tropical section or not? :)

I can't find a lot with a quick 'google' except this, http://www.gardeninglife.ca/articles/article/grow-your-own-gunnera/ but you may have time for a bit more searching. If, by 'giant rhubarb' you mean Gunnera Manicata which grow to about 4m, I'm thinking that eventually you're going to need a pot considerably larger that 6 ltrs. :hehe:

    Hi

Took some pics of our giant rhubarb which i thought you may like to see. Can't really comment on whether you should plant this yet, but i can confirm it grows very fast and i regularly cut stems off. Also read that it requires a lot of water.

I think some of the Gunnera species are edible but not sure about this one.
