    Hey there,

We bought you the giant potatoes a fortnight ago this weeks harvest has bought about giant shallots this week.

Click here for a picture of our Monster Shallots

Have you been finding that the vegetables this year are monsterous compared to last? or do you feel they are smaller? or just normal? Any varieties in particular are massive.

Also on the plot his week, lushess gladioli, runner beans harvests, peppers swelling and strawberry runners have been planted.

Those certainly are monster shallots, and your red onions are about twice the size of mine.

I'm a first time veggie grower and my potatoes were certainly bigger than expected. All my peas, beans etc. have done really well too.

On the flowers front, my gladdies and dahlias are much bigger than last year.

Was it beginners luck, or the plentiful rain?

I think some things are bigger and some have rotted this year, it just depends on how much rain you've had.
Here its been windy with the rain, and I think that has stopped some of the rot, but brought other problems.
Ruffmeister, do you always up root your shallots when still in leaf?
I have always left onions and shallots until the top growth has vitually died off, and the longer the better.
