Hi everyone. My elderley next door neighbour has a lovely garden with neat lawns, lots of conifers, heathers and plants that she cuts back every year as well as pots. It always looks very mannered and easy to maintain - I think the maintenance aspect is important to her as she's talked about how unmanageable it was after her husband died. She's a lovely lady and I'd like to get her a Christmas gift - can anyone suggest a suitable plant or some gardening 'thing' that would add to her garden and not be too high maintenance?

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on how much you want to spend, if you can go to £40 then how about some felco secateures eg felco no.2s.

    Otherwise a nice rose.

What does she collect her garden rubbish in ,does she need a trolley to carry her equipment and also she can clip a rubbish bag to dispose of dead leaves etc, something like that was discussed a few weeks ago on tools etc section, i assume she doesnt have a compost heap,

Thanks everyone, you've given me some ideas. I especially like the hydrangea idea as they grow very well around here.

Thanks again and enjoy the cold snap!
