    Hi,
Just joined the forum the other day and would like to say hello to all. I live i a wee cottage on the outskirts of a village in East Ayrshire. The rear garden is my priority this year and I spent all day yesterday with the Boss Woman renovating a wall which forms a terrace. We layed almost 900 bricks to build the wall back up to the level it was years before we bought the house. The previous owner had knocked the walls of the terraces down to about 2 feet above ground level then filled everything in with rubble and top soil. She then planted grass and some perennials so she had nothing to do but cut grass. I will post fotos if any one is interested. The growing season here seems to be about 2 weeks behind BM's.

Thanks Walnut sounds like a plan. Sorry I havn't given any photos yet. I planted up some shrubs and perrenials this evening after work about just under half of the terraced border below my decking which is a work in progress. When I got home yesterday, Some kind soul had left two Astilbe's at my front door, turned out to be friends of the Boss Woman who had left them as an anniversary present. They were pink ones in full bloom so they went in this evening. When I was digging out this level, I found a quite thick root which was coming from one of the trees on the other side of my boundary fence I erected late last year (I have a wood to the North side of the house) it turned out to be traveling about 20 feet along the terraced border. It got the chop pretty quickly and despatched to the great root heaven. Adding manure from the local farmer as I dig every thing over. He sold me 6 tons delivered and JCB'd over my wall next to the road for the grand total of 80 quid.
Said he will give me 10 ton of top soil for the front garden when I eventually get around to starting it for the same price. Happy days.
