:) Alfred Wainright's favourite favourite climb.
This is Hay Stacks........A beautiful climb in the Lake district.........This is where AW had his ashes scattered.
For those who don't know AW wrote a series of most brilliant guide books to many of the best climbs in Cumbria ........He is also known as the greatest fell walker.

This is me at the top of Hay Stacks......

Hi roders. I too have been up Haystacks (with my better half), very impressive. A bit of a scare near the top though. The book said 'enjoyable little scramble'. Enjoyable, my @rse! Scared me and the Mrs to death ! We stopped near that tarn to have a cup of tea and cold toast (yummy) and received yet ANOTHER fright . We'd stopped in between a couple of boulders, admiring the view when, this flippin' sheep stuck it's head round no more than 3ft away ! Mind you, I think he got as much of a fright as us :D Thanks for sharing the pics :thumb: Cheers...freddy.

Smashing Pics Roders:thmb: Looking at those rocks you dear lady wife is trying to pick her way round puts me off.We have done those sorts of walks over the years and both of us have knee problems now.I just wish walking poles were around thirty years ago, they may have helped. We only had thumb sticks in those days:D

Beautiful photo's though and glad that you made it to the top:thmb: I personally like Tarn Hows,Buttermear and the Newlands Valley although most of the Lake District is beautiful in one way or another:)
