Should I get one of these to water these two while I go away for just over a month in May or is it not necessary?

    Thanks very much.

Yes get one, I have a similar one. A month is too long for potted plants.

Might also suggest that the Acers pot looks rather small for its size and narrowing down to its base makes it prone to being blown over.
A bigger pot / tub will hold more moisture and help prevent toppling over.

When I was left a bit of money I treated myself to a drip system on a timer. Cost about £50 and was well worth it. The only downside was the act of pushing together so many little pipes made my shoulders and neck ache. I had to take a trip to the physio!

I have just returned from a 20 day holiday. What I did was collect lots of empty water jugs, filled them up, and put them in various places around my garden. My cat guy just goes around and waters the plants/pots when he comes by.
