      Bless your heart! :heehee:

How about, you grow them and then, take them to the boot fair, with a label saying: £1 a piece! (But, only really wanting 10p a piece - coz you don't even LIKE them) and then, when some cheeky numpty turnip tries to haggle you down from 50p ... you will *still* feel like you are on a winner ;) ... all the while, huffing and puffing at their audacity :nonofinger: and saying  : "Go on then, 25p and it's yours ..." = mahoosive profit!

Have you seen how much it costs for a stall on a boot fair these days? Our local one is £25 a time.

Are you certain that the people 'running' it have any iota of business acumen???? That is truly outrageous!

:ideaIPB: just putting the thought "out there" ... how much 'land' do you have? Road access? At £5 a pop ... well, you know the rest ;) (twice per week would net you a nice little earner and put your "boredom boys" nicely to bed!) Just saying:

Worth researching if nowt else ;)

You need temporary event planning permission I believe. Then it may also be necessary to have the land reclassified (currently just over half is classed as 'recreational' with the remainder being 'agricultural'). I'd also have to either take steps to prevent people's cars getting stuck, or negotiate a deal with the landlord of the pub straight across the road from my land, so my customers could use his car park, probably with him getting substantially increased custom from traders and visitors wanting a sarnie, pie, or a pint while they're there.

Might be worth looking into, but I've been toying with the idea of making a sort of eco campsite there. you'd get 100 or so pitches on there comfortably, at £10 per pitch per night, averaging say 25% capacity 100 nights of the year = not enough to live on (after outgoings for the business) but a bit of extra dinero all the same.

Gave up on our one, you're not meant to set up before 7.30 am, if you don't get there at 5am you won't get a pitch. Seen a young couple in tears when they couldn't get in. Had to shift everything to make them a space.

I'll leave that thought/research with you CL1 ;) also the adage: "Where there is a will, there's a way ;) " Just putting the thoughts "out there".

Zigs, that is a very informative post: something else CL1 might take into account? :dunno:

Zigs, I have a fantastic Portuguese recipe for broad beans (favas) cooked in white wine if you would like it.

Sounds good Victoria :dbgrtmb: We are off to the Algarve again in a couple of weeks , I'll keep my eye open for Favas . I like grilled sardines as well but they always look to fiddly to eat with all the bones , I just stick to the lovely sardine paste on the couvert.
