Hi a brought a small young goji berry bush acouple of months ago which has grown an astonishing amount already, with the impending doom of winter around the corner do I need to prune it to help promote fruit growth next year and if so how please. Also is there anything I need to do throughout the growing season again to promote fruit growth please?

    Regards

    Ben

Mine has grown quite well over two seasons but never yet produced a berry.
A few weeks ago I noticed a flower or two on it.
I'm assuming if it's a late flowerer, it would be OK to prune in Spring as it would still make enough growth to flower on in one season.
Nor sure if any berries will have time to ripen now, though.

This site gives some info but isn't very explicit about pruning.

I also bought a young goji berry plant this year, it was nothing more than a 6" rooted cutting really, mine has also grown vigorously, I've potted it on twice and its now multi stemmed and about 24" tall :thumb:

Still being young and in a pot though I'm going to keep it just frost free through the winter (hopefully :D)

Mine's on the allotment and has been from the start. I think I got it from Wilko's or Lidl, or somewhere else cheap and cheerful. I bought it as a novelty as I don't even like goji berries all that much!

Ours is about 4 years old and we had our first small crop of about a dozen berries last year. None at all this year though.
