I presume the edible section is correct for this..........
My miniature Golden Hop below has developed its first set of Hops. Now what can I do with these ( except brewing beer !)
I have seen them dried as a garland over bars , do I just cut off this length and let it dry ? Or are the hops aromatic , can I gather them and leave them in a bowl as a potpourri ? How do I tell when the hop is fully grown ?

    TIA

For a garland, cut a length and dry.
I wouldn't add it to pot pourri, but I would make a herb pillow with it: hop pillows are said to aid a restful sleep (if you have any lavender, you could make a hop and lavender herb pillow)

I hang them up as a garland straight away and let them dry in situ....:dbgrtmb:

        Thanks Loli and Mum :dbgrtmb:
So this year a garland ! Do I cut it from the plant now or should I wait until late September ?
When the plant is bigger next year I think I will try the herb pillow for Mrs H.

I got it off Ebay late last year. Planted it in a shadey border and it sulked and really did not put on any growth . This year I dug it up as I thought it wasn't going to start , but I put it in a pot and it did start very late , well into May. So really its in its first year a bit spindly , but a stunning leaf colour . Hopefully it will thicken out next year :blue thumb:
