I'm going to get a second hand DSLR and I just want something to teach me the basics and explain all the photography jargon that I keep reading (always wanted to use that word:hehe:) it definitely has to be basic as I've never used anything other than a point and shoot in my life:flag:

There's loads of books Aesculus and it might be worth a trip to a good book shop and a browse to see what you think suits your own needs. You could also try your local library.
One I bought for our son, and it's quite good and fairly basic is -
" Digital Photography" by John Ellis, published by Silverdale Books. ISBN - 1-84509-277-5 . Cost £9.99.
Something else you could try ( I've not so don't know how well it would work) is to try 'Googling' for something like 'Digital photography explained'
