To say I am a newbie gardener at 70 years old sounds a bit ridiculous!
I am the mother of two, grandmother of two and wife of the same dude for 49 years.
I live in Stirling, Ontario, mid-way between Belleville & Trenton and about 20 km north. I think my planting zone is 5b.
My first effort at gardeninng was when we bought our present home 5 years ago and I found a clematis at Canadian Tire. All I knew about them were that my sister had one and it was beautiful, so I dug a hole, stuck it in (no fertilizer or anything) and hoped for the best.
To say I was amazed at the result would be an understatement. The thing grew like crazy and a a zilllion flowers on it. Next year I bought another one and the same thing. They were a Jackmani and a General Skikorskey and they are amazing. People stop when driving by because it's a wall of purple when they ae in bloom.
Since then I have purchased four more varities and love them all. I'd have more if I had a place to put them! Also put in many other plants which are mostly doing great.
That's me in a nut shell!
    Pat

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Patricia. Look out for Penny who shares Ontario with you and also Armandii, who is our Clematis wizard. :)

We're a friendly but sometimes crazy lot on here, so watch out, they're lurking amongst the threads! :heehee:

Thank you all for the kind welcome. Makes one feel right at home. If there are nuts here, I should just fit right in! I shall have to remember that there is a clematis nut/expert here. I am simply wild about clematis!
I notice there are a lot of gardners from England on here. You do have the most amazing gardens, at least what I have seen in pictures.
