I've been having trouble with the heated propagator I've got in that it's not getting up to the higher temperatures I need for the Musa seeds in it. So yesterday I ordered a temperature controlled propagator that can get a higher temperature, at a discounted price online from Garden4less, and the Good News is that it arrived today.

The Bad News is that it arrived damaged, the clear top being broken along the bottom rim like so:

And this is the actual propagator:

Anyway, as soon as I discovered the damage, within 10 minutes of the Courier leaving, I rang Garden4less and explained the problem. They apologised and said that even with careful packing such damage occurred. They told me they would refund the postage and that a new cover would arrive by Courier tomorrow..............hopefully unbroken. Anyway, I was pleased with their customer care and attitude, and if the cover arrives, unbroken, tomorrow I'll really be pleased, The damage to the cover is such that I can still use it while waiting for the new one to arrive.

Sorry to here about the delivery going wrong, but as they say you maybe able to rescue the situation with some cling film and a bit of tape.
That way you will have a standby for future use or a second for cooler propagation.
Look on the positive side they are willing to send out a free hopefully undamaged item to get you going with the Musa seeds.
Enjoy the moment and live to grow.

Yeah, you're right, Kaz, it's set up and warming up. So as soon as it's warm enough, according to the thermostat, I'll transfer the Musa seeds to it. :D

Hi Landimad, we must have gone to the same repair school as that's exactly what I've done, repaired it with cling film and tape!! Thanks for the advice:thumbsup:

Well, I thought I give you an up date of what's happened about the damaged clear cover. Yesterday Garden4less promised a new one would be delivered today, and that I would be refunded on transit costs. Well, today the new clear cover arrived, undamaged, and there was an e-mail in my in box telling me the refund was in my account!!! Now that's what I call service and it's another retailer I will go back to do business with.:D

Hi, Resonate. I'm glad you got yourself the Propagator you needed:thumbsup: If it's the one below the one I've just bought then it should be the 52cm Stewart Premium Thermostatic controlled Propagator giving a soil temperature of 18C and 23C. The only differences are mine has the 50 watt heater against 22 watt of the next one down and mine has the option of a adjustable heat control. I looked up Garden4less price for your model and it was £39.99P, which means you got a very good price from the Garden Centre!!!:D

The other heated Propagator i have is the Steward 52cm Essentials [22 watt] model which does the job but was struggling to get to the temperatures I needed for the Musa seeds. I can feel that sowing urge coming on!!:heehee::yess:
