Gooseberries in pots?

    Im already thinking of next year.
    Question for you guys:
    Can Gooseberries be grown in large pots?
    If so any recommendation as to variaty. etc:

    I had to relocate several mature gooseberry bushes this year and took the opportunity to pull off a few side shoots with traces of roots on them, also a few cuttings where I had pruned. I just stuck them in pots as I was in a bit of a hurry and then neglected them. They all took and several fruited! Conclusion seems to be (from my small sample) that gooseberries are happy in pots.

    Sorry I can't help you with variety - I inherited these when I bought the house. Two have standard green berries and one turns red if that is any help!

    If they can take abuse as you mentioned I wonder what they would produce with a bit of TLC

    Change of plan.
    Now looks like HINNOMAKI RED is favourite at the moment.
    No where do I get one on them from?
