I start my new job in September, finally leaving the council :yay:.
Going back on the tools as a plumber/duty engineer in a hotel near old Trafford.
offered me £5000 a year more than I'm paid now, 8-4 Monday to Friday.
Handing my notice on Monday cant wait to see my managers face.

Thanks everyone it comes at the right time , as Mrs T finishes work in 12 days voluntary redundancy also from the council, she's thinking of going to night school to do photography.
She hasn't any idea on what career she would like to do

Thanks @Zigs, I still ask for timber in feet and inch's, recently went to a local builders merchant asking for 4"x4"x 10' posts, the bloke just looked at me like I was talking a different language, I must be getting old :old:

                          Congratulations. :yay:

I went to a timber merchant recently and wanted the wood cut into 2ft sections. The 'boy' said they only do it in metric. :rolleyespink: I asked him how long the piece of wood was and he replied "8ft"!

Our local plumber did one for us a few years ago, but he retired last year (about the only plumbing job I can't do).

There's now a dearth of plumbers and even if they can be bothered to turn up for a quote, that's the last you see of them, pèople can't even get those known to be rubbish plumbers to return calls. I'm now having to do all my in-laws plumbing jobs as well as our own (completely re-plumbed our house myself).
