ScotKat, when you`ve been stung by nettles, the best remedy, is to rub the site with a Dock leaf. Works every time.:thumb:

I read somewhere, I think in a Richard Maybee book, that it's only an old wives tale about docks for nettle stings and that there's no scientific reason for it to work. When I've tried the remedy for nettle stings it certainly didn't work for me. Maybee it only works for some people and not others.

In the Welsh language, nettles are referred to as 'danadl poethion' (hot needles) and if someone gets stung they are often referred to as 'danadl bloody poethion' :D

Calamine Lotion, or if you have an aloe vera plant break off part of a leaf, and rub the sap onto the stinging itching bit.

Something that is really good to keep in is Dettol antiseptic cream...works great for all sorts of things...if you don't believe me, just get a tube, you wont regret it.

Final remedy....self hypnosis, talked about in another thread.

Just remember, the nettle is only stinging you to remind you how useful it is in your compost heap :D
