I have been digging them out for the last 7 years. The problem is they form a crown of tiny bulblets around the base of each bulb which fall off at the slightest knock.

    Just keep digging them out.

Best way to get rid of them is to dig out all the soil to a depth of about 1ft and replace with clean topsoil. Even then you probably won't get every seed or bulblet.

Otherwise you just have to be dilligent and remove the leaves before flowering and keep picking them off. Over a few years it will weaken the bulbs and they will die off. Weedkiller is unlikely to work.

Stingo: if you like them then leave them to naturalise. Otherwise I'd lift them and put them in a pot and place it on a slab or somewhere they won't seed on the ground. Treat as you would Mint or Lilly of the Valley - if they can escape they will! ;)

I agree, too, a nightmare of a bulb ... and they get some many itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny bulblets you almost never find them all!

Froguesque's idea is good but a lot of hard work but would do the trick.

If you've the space, fine. I've got a clump or two but it doesn't matter where they are ... I knew their ways from times gone by!

Lovely Spring plant but a nuisance at the same time! [IMG]

    Point taken.
I'll dig them up in the morning and put them back in their pot!
Knew at the back of my mind it wasn't a good idea.
