    Hi All
My wife has purchased a "Sauvingnon Blanc" Grape Vine. It is about 12" tall I guess this will grow best on a south facing wall and over an arch or similar frame??

Does anybody know how long before it produces grapes??

    Your comments appreciated.

    Dave

I can't say how long it will take to fruit, but it will need some sort of support. On a south-facing wall is right to catch as much sun as possible. *

We have ours in the Wintergarten, set in the ground from where it grows up to the beams. Hubby cuts it all back in the autumn, just leaving one branch on each of the 5 beams it is trained along. When it grows in the spring, then he usually puts bamboo canes criss-crossing the beams to support all of the new shoots.

I think ours took several years to get its first fruit.

    * Oh, our Wintergarten is in a south - south-west position.

Probably three or four years Dave.
Until you get anything worth while at least.
The first few years need to be spent forming a good framework of stems, on which the fruiting stems will form each year.
Pesume your looking to make your own wine. [IMG]
