Grass Identification Please

    This is the grass thats making my lawn look bit scruffy at the moment. Really makes the finer lawn look scruffy. :sad: Looks like Annua Poa?

    It looks like an upright grass which rules out Yorkshire Fog. If it's Annua Poa it is an annual grass but self seeds so unless the seed heads are removed it will continue to thrive and any seed already in your soil is likely to germinate. Couch Grass is upright and will spread via running roots but I can't tell which one you have there without seeing the seed head, sorry.

    The only thing to do is dig it out and re-seed the area but that will probably be an on going task for a few years.

      If your lawn is a grade 1 fine lawn with bent and fescue grasses only, it could be annual meadow grass.

      If it'sis a harder wearing lawn, annual meadow grass is often a major constituent. If this is the case, it could be rye grass or Tmothy because it stands upright.
