    Hello!

Hope somebody out there can help me with this one. I have to get some grass seed for a rather large area of ground (approx 1/3 acre) that has recently been anhililated by JCB's, teleporters & tractors due to building work. We've managed to get the biggest stones out & have had the ground raked over by our friendly farmer with his tractor (well most of it anyway, I still have the bit he couldn't reach to do). What I'm after is advice on low maintenance, drought resistant grass that requires minimum cutting (there's already 1/3 acre of grass but we don't have a sit-on lawnmower or any sheep!). Given the amount of land there is to cover it's grass seed we're after. Can anyone give me advice on a) the most suitable type? b) how much we need? & c) where to get it from? We want to avoid garden centres as the cost would be astronomical. Also, we have a steeply sloping bank that I think we will be covering with turf but if anyone has any other suggestions for this area they would be greatly appreciated - preferably something that in the future could cope with being shaded in the mornings (the house is East facing).

[IMG] Hi' You could try your local farmers supply store. We have "Country Wide" in this area, they are very helpful & knowledgable. I'm sure somebody will come on & give you more advice, but that is a cheaper alternative to a G centre. [IMG]
