I HAVE MOVED HOME RECENTLY AND THE GRASS IS GROWING LIKE WILDFIRE.I DO NOT THINK IT IS "REAL GRASS"MORE LIKE GRASSY WEEDS.CAN ANYONE SUGGEST HOW TO GET RID OF IT.I HAVE TREATED IT WITH WEEDKILLER WHICH HAS KILLED ALL THE BUTTERCUPS AND DAISIES BUT I STILL HAVE MASSES OF GRASSY TUFTS.

In that case you may need to bruise the stalks before applying more weedkiller (Roundup). Also add a little washing up liquid to the weedkiller mixture. It makes it 'sticky' and so it adheres to the leaves and stalks better. Bruising is fairly easy, it just looks a bit odd, you just beat at the grass with a stick or something, not enough to remove the stems just enough to split them a little. Best of luck!

    Naughty Macleaf!
I don't do menial jobs such as mow!! I merely plan, plant and potter. I have a nice young man who does my mowing - it's the gardening equivalent of ironing :D

where does weeding come in, Windy??

seriously, though, I've found that the simplest way of dealing with this sort of thing, or any other tough or tap-rooted weed in the grass, is to use a daisy grubber - http://www.rittenhouse.ca/asp/product.asp?PG=1767 for a pic of one. Constant discouragement eventually works [IMG]

Well, that is a lot of work. Be sure you get every scrap of root out, otherwise you may find you have a lawn with patches of whatever this is coming through it.
