I have some small clumps of long 6-8" shiney grass that stand out above the rest of the grassy weeds. I pulled some out and found that it had a small white bulb at the base. I wondered if it could have been new a pampas plant  but the leaves are a nicer green and not sharp. I don't think it is a flower as I can't recall seeing anything there last year, any ideas what it is?

All bulbs begin with a single leaf so it could be seedlings from almost any bulb. You may well have to wait and see what develops.

If it looks like grass, and the bulb is tiny, could it be a snowdrop? However it if was you'd have seen it flower before now.

I'm with Palustris on this one. The plant is too small and immature to be able to identify it with any certainty so you'll have to wait and "see what develops"

Ok thanks, the bulb smells a bit oniony, so it'll be interesting to see what it is.
