Whilst visiting my parents last weekend in Cheshire I took the chance to visit the lake I used to manage for 12 years; a real wildlife haven as well as a fishing lake.

Whilst there I saw; amongst dozens of birds, butterflies, dragon/damsel flies, the cutest little Common Lizard, a young female sunning itself on a tree stump in a sun trap. It was similar to this one and I did get a photo on my phone that's a little blurred...

First one I've seen there for a few years, but they are a relatively common sight if you know where to look. Many years ago we used to see the much rarer Sand Lizard there too but we haven't seen one of them for a long time.

Grass Snakes are also common there and occasional but rare sightings of Adders are also made.

It's a fantastic wildlife haven, I even once did a wildlife audit for the sight recording everything we'd seen......I'll after to try and get it on here one day..:)
