Is it possible to restrict the height growth of green bean plants?

I currently have 3 in my pop up greenhouse which are fairly short but I've grown them the past few years so know how tall they get. Only thing is as soon as I've planted them out in previous years, they get eaten by bugs etc.

I wondered if there's a way to restrict height and have them still produce beans?

Take out the growing tip, this will force the "bean" to make side shoots, more growing tips to remove when you get to maximum height.
I am in Wales and have my beans planted out a month at least, as weather so mild, some things do enjoy eating our plants but that`s gardening.

So just cut it when it gets to desired height?
