    As anyone used these ?
We have been with the RAC for years but the last quote was really expensive.
Thinking of changing to green flag but not sure.:cnfs:
    Any advise please.

I don't suppose many would agree with me but I am not in any breakdown org. I figure they are expensive. Having said that I have probably just tempted fate....eeeek:help:
Can't comment on Green Flag - sorry.

We used to insure through Green Flag on our travels between the UK and here, sometimes twiice a year, as they covered us in the UK, Spain and Portugal. It was relatively inexpensive if I remember correctly, hence us using them.

Fortunately we never had to make any claims .... so sorry I can't advise in that respect.

Our car policies include breakdown cover here ... otherwise we probably wouldn't bother ... and our cars are 11 and 12 years old .... .... but maintained professionally and regularly :thumb:

I use AA, The advantadge with the AA is they send there own trucks/ patrols rather than using contractors. The likes of greenflag seem to use contractors as often do RAC.

When I was with the RAC some of the contractors were great but others were awfull ie really late etc etc.

In my experience the AA patrol staff go out thier way to help and imo the membership is worth every penny.

Hi Lyn. I was unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident in a friends car (he was the driver). He was with GF. So, he tried calling them for assistance. He waited while he was put on hold. He waited, he waited and he waited until his credit ran out ! So we were stuck there. The only option open was to drive it back home in a very serious condition. Just as a trial, I phoned the RAC, who answered straight away. Guess who I'm with ? :D Cheers...freddy.

Daisees was with GreenFlag. When she broke down once they transported her car to
a 'halfwaypoint' and she was left in a waiting room until the next driver arrived to take her and her car the rest of the journey. After ages and ages she went to look to see who was about and they had forgotten she was in the waiting room!
She could have been there all night

Actually that was the AA, sis!

But I had some equally disastrous experiences with GF.

I was stranded on a baking hot day out in the country with NO shelter or fluids. Was in the early days of mobiles when a battery charge only lasted 6-7 hrs and there were no such things as battery chargers.
My battery was getting precious low when I rang for help. Still they put me on hold for ages and I rang again. Found they had no record of my 6 month membership despite I had documents to prove my acceptance. In vain I begged them to come to me anyway as I was getting really ill with the heat and nothing to drink, no houses or anything in sight. Eventually they did but I was sick for a couple of days because of it.

I rang and got the membership problem sorted out - seemed they had mis-spelled my name (how can you mis-spell Fox?). Some months later, I had need to call them again and EXACTLY the same thing happened! And I was left for ages, put on hold on a mobile phone - and no they WOULDN'T call me back because I "wasn't proved to be a member". Eventually they came but I was fit to be tied!

When I rang from home the next day, they were all apologies and said is was a computer glitch this time but though they had a policy of a refund of £20 or something if they took longer than an hour to come out and they said they would send it, they never did.

Needless to say, I registered with another outfit later and have avoided them like the plague since.

We have to have breakdown cover due to our business , we can't risk leaving goods on a broken down vehicle.
Some of the bad stories about Green Flag seem to be old .
I have found out Tesco and many other big name insurers use them as their cover so maybe they have improved with age. :)
We are waiting for some info to be sent to us.
    I'll keep asking and digging.
    Thanks for the info.
