After potatoes came out this year, dug in a load of compost and then sowed a green manure crop.
This is now about 300mm (12") high ..

What is best approach ... thought I would simply try and dig it in with a spade turning it over so all the crop is buried under the soil ... then leave for a couple of weeks - then run tiller over the lot. ?

What green manure crop is it? Whether you leave it til spring or dig it under now depends if its something that produces millions of seeds or not.

No personal experience, but, this article from the Guardian is interesting (here's a snippet):

Thanks ... well had the first frosts for sure. As s0on as dry enough to use tiller ... think I'll run strimmer over it first, then turn over with a spade to buy in ... leave it a week or so then run tiller over it and plant in the onions & shallots a couple of days later.
