Green Roof

Our garage roof has been in a poor state since we bought the house and we've recently been entertaining the idea of creating a green roof. Problem is that we don't really know where to start in regards to weight bearing, impermeable membrane etc.

Has anyone built one before or have any ideas, links.... where we can find out more?

That would be great - I looked into it for my shed, but there's no way it could bear the weight. :( Look forward to seeing other's though!

The Centre for Alternative Technology are also very knowledgeable about such things.

 

A starting point would be to contact the laocal building control department.
