As mentioned on other threads across the forum it seems that there is a requirement for the very best in green tomato chutney recipes!
I am plundering my tomatoes every day but i do hope to have some greannies at the end of the season that will require transforming to chutney.
Please post here your best recipes
    Thankyou ...Robert

I'll dig mine out when I get home. at work at the moment.:)

In fact, looking at my tomatoes, I will have more green tomatoes then red anyway so maybe I should go in the chutney making business.:D

sorry it took a while to find.............

makes approx 1 l of chutney

    450ml pickling malt vinegar
675g tomatoes, green or red, chopped
450g cooking apples, peeled and chopped
    225g onions, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    7.5ml salt
    100g sultanas
    2.5cm fresh root ginger, grated

plaace everything EXCEPT sugar in large saucepan, bring to boil and simmer gently for approx 20 mins until veg. are soft.

Add the sugar, stir until desolved then simmer, stirring occasionally for about an hour until the chutney is a thick pulpy consistency.

pour into warm sterilised jars, seal and store for 2 weeks before first use.

I have been wondering if green tomatoes can be made into some sort of a pickle....no, nto the sort with malt vinager in it but some sort of a pickle with Indian spices.

The idea of drying green tomatoes and then pickling them with dried green mangoes and red chillies sounds good. I'll have to do a bit of experimenting.

got the idea of drying them from another thread on here but first I have to buy me a dehydrator...a cheap one....

    Anyone got any ideas?
