Am I just being impatient? my tomato plants have been fruiting loads over the last few weeks. All 5 bushes are laiden with big tommies, however, they're still green!

How long do they take to turn red?!

I have 3 cherry and 2 plum plants, the leaves on the plum ones are yellowing and curling, is this bad?

P.s. my gut feeling is it's due to needing more water but I can't water them enough in this hot weather were having! I've tried putting an empty squash bottle in the pot of each plant, pierced a small hole in the bottle so water trickles out. I fill the bottles in the evening and water then plants in the morning

What method are you using? Grow bags, containers, the soil or what? Obviously some methods need a lot more watering. Also do you have them in a greenhouse or outdoors?

Well they will take a little while longer to ripen being outside. I wouldn't worry about leaf curl, it's caused by variable night temperatures, it shouldn't affect them.

Obviously pots take a fair bit more watering than having them in the soil. It sounds like you are doing the right thing with your watering regime.

By the way, my outdoor tomatoes haven't ripened yet even though I'm much further south (and a little warmer), I hope they will in a fortnight. I think most people on here saying they have ripe tomatoes grow them in greenhouses.

Is raining drizzly here tonight so they should get a better watering from that!

I have picked 4 Maskotkas from the window box over the last 2 days. One or two of the patio plants have a tom or two going from dark to light/lime green...:dancy:

Can you do the trick of putting Banana skins near the green fruit, to hasten ripening, with outdoor Toms? or will the Ethylene just blow away?
