Does anyone know of an online source for greenhouse plans? I'm looking for a "free" source.

I've found plenty that are poly tunnel shape, but I'm looking to make one from wood so need quite detailed plans for one.

I have extensively googled and also visited my local library, best the library had was a book detaling garden benches and containers.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

    Steve...:)

Yes I have that one thanks walnut, its pretty basic but by the looks of it will do the job admirably. However, I dont think I would use polythene but opt for some perspex or rigid plastic, and add a window/ventilation lower down on the side walls.

I was hoping someone would have some more complex plans sporting an all singing all dancing greenhouse version, then I could go between the two and make what I need.

If anyone has a wooden greenhouse and wouldn't mind taking some photo's and acompanying them with some details here, I would much appreciate that. I must also see if any of the local garden centres have them on show too.

    Many thanks Walnut.

I was planning on doing the same thing earlier this year and had sketched out what I wanted and even chosen the wood ( http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3451 )... Then had a last look on ebay and found a stunning hexagonal aluminium one second hand which was an offer I couldn't refuse! I balanced the effort of creating one from scratch against something I liked which would be easier to put up. ( http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=8931 ) Basically I'm saying its an effort but if you REALLY want it then find a local joiner or chippy and see if they can provide basic info on making appropriate wood joints for your design. Or how much they charge for making it of course!

Sorry, late reply, just been reading through some threads.

I have bought two aluminium greenhouses on eBay for a fraction of the cost of new ones. Some cost involved in fetching, getting a bricky to make a frame, and replacement nuts & bolts etc. (also available from eBay)

Just looking at greenhouses that sold in the last month, on eBay, for example:

    7' x 6' £ 84 #280234973778
    6' x 6' £ 77 #330244252775 inc shelving and heater
    7'6" x 6'6" £ 60 #150258542027
    14' x 10' £385 #170227365585 cedar, and posh looking!

I bought a 30' x 10' Eden aluminium greenhouse less than 5 years old for £ 400. I was going to get a plastic tunnel, but this worked out better value, I reckon.

Admirable idea building your own but.....for the cost and the time it will take you...get an aluminum one. Try Norfolk Greenhouses. Much cheaper.

Can be erected over a weekend and you could be using and planting in it instead of building it. Well, that's my advice anyway for what its worth.

    Best of luck.

    Hi Steve

I'll PM you with some info. Don't know how much help it will be.

Will your greenhouse be finished when I see you in September :thumb: :D

Thanks for the info Michael, I'll pursue that today.

I'm hoping to buy a greenhouse from (Thanks Kristen and Loofah) ebay as a stop gap, but still fully intend to build my own. My partner Anne, is wheelchair bound and will want to use the greenhouse too, so it needs to be custom built so she can enter, turn around and get out all in her chair. Rather than a custom build from a greenhouse supplier the better and cheaper option is to build myself. Time is not an issue for me.

Many thanks to all for the suggestions and by all means come them coming (obvious as it is, I had not thought of ebay!)

The idea of building a wooden greenhouse really appeals to me, having just spent the last few evenings sawing up rafters for my extension. I think I missed my vocation, I love the smell of the cut wood, really like going to the timber yard looking at wood and get a lot of satisfaction looking at what I've built so far (the Building Inspector has yet to come and approve so I might not be so happy if he tells me I've got a load of expensive firewood!)

Sorry can't help with plans, but if you've got the time go for it :thumb:
